Hey, I am bringing a friend into the MMO world with GW1 as he's interested in GW2, we're trying to do -image but windows 7 is being a bitch. We can't edit the target, on my computer (XP) it shows "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" and I can edit it. On his, it just shows the option to edit the name of the file and the target can't be changed. Any help is appreciated!

Right click on the icon and choose 'Properties'. Then in the Target: field, type:

Click ok.

Then whenever you double-click this icon it will launch GW.exe with the image option.

... you might want to read it again, this doesn't work on windows 7

I'm using windows 7 and can do it just as with windows xp

a: go to computer
b: browse to c:\program files\guild wars (or whatever drive/instalation folder it is installed on and in
c: there should already be a shorcut file called Guild Wars (don't mistake it with gw.exe), right click it and do as you do it on windows xp, use the shortcut file to start the game.

If there isn't a shortcut rightclick gw.exe (in the same folder), click copy to, choose desktop (shortcut), go to the desktop and do step c

What your prolly are trying to do is usiong the shortcut in e.g. the start menu. but those can't be changed anymore in the same way as on windows xp.

Yes and I have been using Windows 7 for years. What error message did you receive?

I assume he has a Gw icon on his desktop.

I don't know why you can't make this work, because it works just fine on my PC.

With Windows 7, the icon normally set on your desktop when you install Guild Wars is unable to be specifically edited to include the -image property. I don't know why that is, but it is. I have Windows 7 and have had to create a second shortcut on my desktop to do -image. So what I did was:

1. Locate where Guild Wars was installed
2. Right-click on GW.EXE and select "Send-To -> Desktop (create shortcut)"
3. Go to properties on the gw.exe shortcut on the desktop just created, and modify the "Target" field to show what Daesu showed.

That should work without any problems.

do the image on U pc and copy it over from a USB(3) stick..!

On Windows 7: Right click on the icon and choose "Properties". Then in the Target: field, type: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

This should work on Windows 7. If not you are doing something wrong.

It refers to the Vista/Win7 Games folder that nobody uses, but someone might find it useful

That's odd. It crosses my mind that you may actually have gw.exe on your desktop, rather than a shortcut. GW is quite happy to have its executable anywhere, as long as it knows where gw.dat is.
